Maple Syrup Pie recipe (Pie)

YOU'LL NEED
Yield: 8 servings

1 cup whole milk
¼ cups flour
1 cup maple syrup
2   egg yolks
1 cup whipped cream
1   baked 8-inch pie shell
2   egg whites
¼ cups granulated sugar
some   salt

Instructions

Heat the milk. Carefully stir in the flour. Add the salt and the maple syrup* and mix for approx. 5 minutes, until a smooth, dense mixture is obtained. Lower the heat.

Beat the eggs yolks. Spoon about ½ cup of the mixture into a small saucepan. Incorporate the yolks into the mixture in the bowl. Cook on medium heat for 4 min. Remove from stovetop.

Mix in the butter until it melts into the mixture. Let cool for 20 minutes. Pour the mixture into the pastry shell.

Whisk the egg whites and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form when the whisk is raised. Slowly add in sugar, beating until a stiff and glossy fluff is obtained. Spread the meringue over the pie.

Bake until lightly browned (about 15 min. at 350°).
